What makes it go smoothly from a distance. Say up front that you are planning from abroad and give your wedding date early, so a vendor can work around the time difference and tell you how they handle deposits. A deposit is money paid in advance to hold your date. Ask for prices in Uganda shillings and ask what is and is not included, in writing. Ask for recent work rather than a portfolio’s greatest hits, since you cannot walk into a studio and look. And agree how you will actually talk, whether that is WhatsApp, email or a call, because a vendor who is quick on WhatsApp may be slow on email.
